Does the following ring a bell?
"I could never go vegan; I love _____ too much" or "I'm a ______, so I could never be a _____." Or "I'm too _____, so I can't _____?" (Fill in the blank with whatever limiting food/habit/identity you can think of.)
Wake-up call: Who the heck do you think you are, making limitations on yourself like that? You, of all people, have NO IDEA who you are and what you are capable of. Please, get out of your own way and let the true you shine through!
You know as well as I do that we are constantly rediscovering who we are and what we're capable of. We're always evolving, and who we aredepends on what we do. What we do depends on what we think.
I lived with vegetarians for seven years, and the whole time I thought, "Well, that's okay/easy for them because that's them and they're different. But, see, now I'm German-American from the Midwest, see, and I love my meat and cheese, so I could never EVER be vegetarian or--(gasp!)--a vegan."
Other things I told myself:
I'm not a swimmer/a runner/a yogi.
I'm not one of those people who likes tofu/quinoa/hemp. seeds/kombucha/green smoothies, etc.
I don't have time to juice in the morning.
Guess what? All utter B.S.
What are some things you've told yourself about yourself that turned out not to be true?
This week your mission is to write down 5 health- or veg-related things you've told yourself about who you are not and what you can't do that turned out not to be true. You were so totally full of crap back then, weren't you? And now look what you can do!
Now, write down 5 things that you want to be true about yourself.
What might it be like to be or do one of those things? What would you do? What single step can you take today to start yourself down that road? Commit to it now. If you like, share what you've come up with in the comments section to voice your commitment and seal the power of your intention.
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now." - Goethe
Go out there and surprise yourself. It'll be so fun to look back and think, "How cool! I never thought I could do that or be that." Because guess what? You absolutely can, and that's so very you.
